can’t we ask interviewer what do you mean by tell about yourself(obviously with politeness) to get clarity and directly cut through the question because the question is too vague and by asking our doubts we can specify and get clear idea what we should say?

Stop viewing an interview as an interrogation, whether a professional conversation. Stop thinking it’s an auction, don’t degrade yourself in your mind like that. You are interviewing employers just as much as they are interviewing you, if they don’t have what you are looking for, have the integrity to respectfully walk away if you are not in a desperate situation, because believe me they will do the same vice versa. Utilize the depths of your vocabulary.
I may not have always been offered the job, but I never fail to make my mark with my interviewing abilities.
